Mother Dairy Unveils India’s First Naturally Degradable Milk Pouch with New Campaign by Ogilvy India
New Delhi, June 2026: In a significant move towards sustainable packaging, Mother Dairy has introduced India’s first naturally degradable milk pouch that can break down in soil. The initiative, launched on the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, marks a major step in the company’s ongoing commitment to environmentally responsible innovation.
To bring this milestone to consumers, Mother Dairy has partnered with Ogilvy India for a heartfelt campaign that highlights the life cycle of the new milk pouch through an emotionally engaging digital film.
A Story of Sustainability Told Through a Flying Milk Pouch
The campaign film follows an unusual protagonist—a milk pouch that unexpectedly escapes from a garbage truck and embarks on a symbolic journey across the city. Floating above crowded streets and everyday life, the pouch captures the attention of residents, sanitation workers, and passersby, creating moments of curiosity and wonder.
As the story unfolds, the pouch becomes a symbol of hope for a cleaner future. A child working on an environmental school project and a young passerby both attempt to catch the drifting pack, reflecting society’s growing awareness of sustainability. The journey concludes as the pouch gently settles into the earth, where it naturally degrades and becomes part of the soil.
Adding emotional depth to the narrative is a soulful soundtrack performed by acclaimed artist Swanand Kirkire, whose voice enhances the film’s message of environmental responsibility and care.
Nearly 2 Million Sustainable Milk Packs Daily in Delhi NCR
According to Jayatheertha Chary, the launch represents an important milestone in Mother Dairy’s sustainability journey. Beginning on World Environment Day, nearly two million packs of Mother Dairy Cow Milk will be distributed daily in the new degradable packaging across households in the Delhi NCR region.
The company has also introduced a refreshed packaging design alongside the new pouch, reinforcing its commitment to reducing environmental impact while maintaining product quality and convenience for consumers.
Ogilvy India Brings the Packaging Innovation to Life
Explaining the creative thought behind the campaign, Sujoy Roy said the team wanted to address a common challenge in plastic waste management—packaging that never reaches the recycling stream.
The campaign imagines a scenario where even a misplaced milk pouch can eventually return to nature. By transforming the pouch into a free-spirited character with its own journey, the film delivers a powerful message about sustainability in a simple and relatable way.
Strengthening Sustainable Packaging in India
The launch positions Mother Dairy among the pioneers of sustainable packaging innovation in India’s dairy sector. As environmental concerns continue to influence consumer preferences, the introduction of naturally degradable milk pouches could set a new benchmark for responsible packaging solutions across the FMCG industry.
With this initiative, Mother Dairy aims to demonstrate that innovation can go beyond product quality and extend to packaging that supports a cleaner and greener future.
