Loreal India Appoints Publicis Media as New Media Agency of Record
L’Oréal India has selected Publicis Media as its new integrated media agency of record (AOR), ending a long-standing partnership with Wavemaker, which previously managed the beauty company’s media business in India.
The appointment follows a competitive multi-agency review and is expected to reshape L’Oréal India’s media and digital communication strategy across platforms. The mandate includes media planning, buying, digital strategy, data-led marketing, content integration, and performance campaigns for the company’s extensive portfolio of beauty and personal care brands.
Industry estimates place the account value between ₹700 crore and ₹900 crore annually, making it one of the largest media mandate shifts in India’s advertising sector this year.
The partnership signals L’Oréal India’s growing focus on consumer intelligence, AI-powered marketing, and connected digital experiences as the beauty market rapidly evolves. With Indian consumers increasingly discovering and purchasing products through social commerce, influencer-led content, and e-commerce ecosystems, the company is aiming to build a more agile and technology-first media structure.
Publicis Media is expected to lead integrated campaigns across television, digital, commerce, social media, retail media, and emerging content platforms. The move is also aligned with L’Oréal’s global strategy of combining creativity, data, and technology to strengthen brand engagement and customer personalization.
Executives from L’Oréal India emphasized that the company is entering a new phase of growth where media effectiveness will depend not only on reach but also on relevance, precision targeting, and measurable consumer impact.
The company also acknowledged Wavemaker’s contribution over the years, crediting the agency for supporting the growth of several flagship beauty brands in the Indian market.
The win further strengthens Publicis Groupe’s position in India’s highly competitive advertising ecosystem, particularly in the fast-growing beauty and lifestyle category. Reports suggest that Zenith, part of the Publicis Media network, may oversee key operational responsibilities for the account.
L’Oréal India operates across multiple segments including mass beauty, luxury cosmetics, professional haircare, and dermatological skincare. Its portfolio includes globally recognized brands such as L’Oréal Paris, Maybelline New York, Garnier, Lancôme, Kérastase, NYX Professional Makeup, and CeraVe.
As India’s beauty and personal care industry continues to expand, major brands are increasingly investing in data-driven advertising, influencer marketing, AI-backed audience targeting, and omnichannel consumer engagement strategies to stay competitive in the digital era.
